Food has been used as a physical medium for the creation of art throughout history, yet not a single volume exists in print dedicated to this fascinating subject. While food depiction in art has been a perennial topic, I propose to explore food as art – the history of food as a raw material for various art forms, and also prepared food as edible, ephemeral work of art in its own right. From antiquity to the latest molecular gastronomic trends, across cultures spanning the globe, this visual feast will be equally delicious to lovers of food and of art.
